How do I make a reservation?
Simply call your preferred travel agent or for more information call LaFairy Sails at +84-24-73028866 or email to: or through our website by filling out reservation form at the right panel. When making a reservation, we require the following information for all guests: name, date of birth, gender, citizenship, passport number, emergency contact number, and any special request… (i.e. dietary, birthday, honeymoon…)

How do I pay my cruise?
All our rates are quoted in US Dollars. You can make payment by cash, bank transfer, One PAY (popular payment gateway in Vietnam) or credit card (VISA, Master and AMEX).

How and when will I receive my travel documents?

Do we get pick up from hotels in Hanoi?
We pick you up from your hotels near by and in Hanoi Old Quarter by new Ford Transit – 16 seat van. Pick up time is 8:00am – 8:30am every morning. You are recommended to have breakfast and be ready at hotel’s lobby.

Where do your cruises start from?
LaFairy Sails starts our cruises from Tuan Chau International harbor. Located in the southwest of Tuan Chau island, Tuan Chau harbor has a total area of over 1.7 million square meters. The harbor has been awarded Guinness records for the biggest artificial yacht port in Vietnam.

Where are LaFairy Sails cruising inside the Halong Bay?
LaFairy Sails starts cruising into Halong Bay, visits the quiet part of Halong Bay with primitive beauty to make a good balance between leisurely cruising away from the crowd and visits to the major landmarks of the Bay.

How many suitcases can I bring?
Each person is allowed up to two pieces of personal luggage onboard, with each piece weighing a maximum of 30 kilograms. Should passengers carry more than this amount, it is necessary to inform our reservation staff when booking your trip.

Will I need an electrical converter?
The current on board is 220 volts AC. However, some high-voltage hair dryers, electric rollers and electric razors may require a converter.

Do children cruise for free?
•    Yes. Children below the age of 5 years old sharing a double room with parents are free of charge (limited to two children per booking).
•    Children from 5 to 11 years old are charged 75%, sharing a triple room with parents.

How can we celebrate our special occasion?
We could arrange wine, flowers or on voyage gifts, such as fruit baskets, champagne, birthday cakes, or local gifts for your celebration. With advance notice, we can also organize other theme parties on board. Please let us know before cruising.

What can’t I bring onboard?
Passengers are not allowed to bring onboard the vessel any intoxicating liquors, or beverages, firearms, weapons of any kind, ammunition, explosive substances or any goods of a dangerous nature, nor animals of any kind, except service or guide animals, provided the passenger notifies Carrier prior to the cruise of his intention to bring such animal and agrees to take sole responsibility for any expense, damage, injuries or losses associated with or caused by such animal.

What should I wear on the boat?
Freestyle and comfortable is the word. However, you should bring warm clothes in winter time from November to April as it can get pretty chilly, especially in the early morning and at night. A raincoat will be useful any time of the year, especially in summer time from May to September.

If you go for 3 days/2 nights, you should have a change of clothes on the second day as you will easily get wet.

What kind of food aboard LaFairy Sails?
Most of the meals offered with fresh seafood in Halong Bay, meats and vegetables to make the good balance for your meals. The cooking method is also different from each dish and each meal to make sure for your good health and good appetite. If you have any special food requests or allergies, please inform us in advance, we will prepare alternative food for you.

What if I am vegetarian?
We pride ourselves on serving fresh, creative food, including for vegetarians. For the convenience of our passengers, menus are displayed in cabins and in the dining room. We are happy to accommodate certain dietary restrictions provided we are notified in advance. Refreshments and snacks are available 24 hours a day in the lounge and dining room.

Do itineraries change?
Every effort will be made to follow the published itinerary – wind, weather, emerald water and the good nature providing. LaFairy Sails reserves the right to change, omit or add stops, change the route due to unforeseen circumstances.

Is there any risk that LaFairy Sails may cancel the cruises?
LaFairy Sails only cancel the cruises if there is cancellation announcement from the local board: the Halong Bay Port Authority. Every morning, the Port Authority delivers a permit to each cruise company allowing them to sail in Halong Bay. In case of bad weather conditions and risks of tropical storms, thunderstorms or heavy fogs, the Port Authority might limit the possibilities of cruising and even decide to cancel all cruises to make sure about the customers and crew’s safety.

The latest cancellation decision may be informed by the local Authority at 15:00pm whilst you are onboard.

Also, please kindly be aware that the typhoon season in Halong Bay is from July to September.

Are charters available?
Yes. Choose existing itineraries or perhaps customize your own! Check out our cruises which accommodate up to 23 guests. Please ask your travel agent or contact us for special charter and group tariffs.

What is the cancellation policy?
Any change/ amendment of existing booking shall be considered as cancellation and a new booking shall be made. Penalty charge shall apply accordingly based on charge of each cancelled cabin as per below percentage:

Do I need to bring money onboard?
Although our cruise fare includes mostly everything, you still should carry extra cash for personal expenditure such as drinks at bar, snacks or other personal services. Cash should be in Vietnam Dong or US Dollar. Credit card (VISA, Master) is also accepted on our junks.

When is the best time to visit Halong?
Halong Bay is located in both a tropical and a temperate zone. There are four distinct seasons evident in each year. Spring and autumn are nicely warm and being the best time to visit Halong Bay.

The period from May to October receives the more significant rainfall and winter lasts from 4 to 5 months. Between the two main seasons are a shorter spring and autumn. The period from August to October is typhoon season.
Summer is a good time to visit Halong Bay.It lasts from May until September, mostly sunny but it’s also the rainy season in the Northern Vietnam. The weather is quite hot and humid in the Summer time. However, it’s great to swim in the emerald water and do kayaking around the limestone islands. Winter lasts from December to March; temperatures can drop down to 12°C-17°C. It’s sometimes quiet foggy and extremely cold with drizzle, so that you should bring your warm clothes with you. However, the fog makes Halong Bay even more mystical and dramatic.
Recently, the weather is rather unpredictable and can vary greatly even within one single day. We sometimes have to cancel the cruises without any prior notices because of the weather changes. Of course, we always try to inform you about the cancellation as soon as we can.

How far is that from Hanoi to Halong Bay?
Halong Bay is located 170km away from Hanoi, this would take you about 3.5 hours on bus transfer to Halong city, bus trip normally leaves Hanoi by 8.30 am. Our bus will arrange a stopover on the half way around 20 – 30 minutes for refreshment and rest room.
We will be hitting the road for Halong Bay through the rich farmlands of the Red River Delta and the scenery of rice fields, water buffalo and everyday Vietnamese village life.
It also takes 3.5 hours to drive from Hanoi airport and 2 hours from Hải Phòng airport by private car if you have special request with extra cost.

Do we have to bring passport for sleeping onboard?
Yes, you do have to bring your original valid passports with you on boat and please provide us your full names, gender, passport number, visa expire date before your departure to Halong Bay.

Where does the boat anchor at night time?
After cruising to see the hidden wonders of Halong Bay, LaFairy Sails’ captain will find a suitable place (within the allowance areas) to anchor for the night, this place is normally inside the very calm bay surrounded by the islands.
Tip: Before we drop the anchor for the night, you will probably see the sunset so get your camera ready to take these wonderful moments.

Can we sleep outside on the top deck of the boat?
Yes, it is very nice to sleep outside there on the top-deck but please check this with our tour guide or the junk’s captain if the weather is fine to sleep outside. To note that we have very fine cabins designed with comforts of everything needed for a good sleep: natural rubber mattress, blanket, feather pillows and mosquito net and we cannot bring this outside for you.

How many caves in Halong will we visit?
We will embark on the boat for a cruise amongst the islands and islets of this stunning Halong Bay. We will visit one cave on our 1 or 2 day trip, however, if you wish to visit more than one, we have to plan this well prior to departure so that our captain know where to go and please be informed an extra fee for each additional cave you plan to see.
Note: If the weather turns bad, we all have to follow the captain’s instruction, cave visit or extra cruise can be canceled without prior notice.

Do you have life jackets on cruise?
Yes, that is one compulsory requirement for any boat/junk in Halong Bay. We do arrange life jackets in the guest cabins, in the public areas, on the tender and on the kayaks. Life rafts and life buoys are also available onboard for emergency.
Tip: If you do not see this when boarding the junk, please ask for the instruction from the crew member or our captain.

What should I bring onboard?
You are recommended to bring:  Sun glasses, sun block, wide brim hat, insect repellents, swimming suites (in summer) or warm clothes (in winter) and original valid passports.

What about seasick on boat?
If you look on Vietnam map, you will see Halong lies on the Tonkin Gulf with lots of island that made up Halong Bay. With its calm water and gentle waves, Halong Bay really acts as a shield that stops all the violent waves, so it’s hard to get sea sick while staying onboard.
Tip: When the junk gets swinging, do not walk around on boat to avoid seasick.
